Prima Princessa Review and Giveaway

Regan is the ballerina in our family. In fact it is one of her favorite things to do in life. Every Monday she has her own private dance class where she can work on her skills, and use her walker as her barre. Last year her performance was so touching there was not a dry eye in the house at the dance recital. Knowing how much dance means to my daughter I was thrilled to receive a copy of Prima Princessa to review. Oh by the way isn't she cute in her recital costume?

Prima Princessa was viewed by both of my daughter's and my five year old niece. We spent an evening watching and dancing to Swan Lake, and learning some basic moves. Even if you do not know a pirouette from a grand jete you will enjoy watching this DVD with any of your tiny dancers. This show includes:

It is a 40 minute DVD for anyone aspiring to be a ballerina or princess and stars a cartoon fairy ballerina princess named Prima Princessa who takes an adorable group of pre-school girls on a magic journey to see a live performance of Swan Lake, performed by the world famous Paris Opera Ballet, complete with kid-friendly narration by Prima Princessa. Between acts they come home and in a fun montage of animals, kids, and young dancers from the New York City Ballet's SAB they learn basic ballet steps. Prima Princessa DVD Review and Giveaway

We have always said that my daughter would be a dancer. She is super flexible and when she would sit, she would point her toes, with her legs out to the side. Or she would stand on her tip toes. It's in her blood, what can I say?

I received the Prima Princessa DVD from the company to do a review, and I thought it was perfect for my daughter. I remember a few months ago I did a basic pirouette and my daughter just laughed and laughed. I don't know why she thought it was so funny, but she liked it. I figured she would like this video too.

We have pulled it out a few times, and she kind of watches it, but not really. She doesn't watch many DVD's however, so I think it's just a little old for her. (She's almost 2) She does like spinning and jumping with the little kids on the movie, however. In fact, I got a video of her doing it.



We had to pull out her pretty princess dress so she could look as pretty as the ballerinas. She had so much fun spinning and jumping around the room.

So what exactly is this DVD?

I love how they incorporate a real ballet, but they explain everything that is going on, so kids can understand the story. It's also fun to see other kids actually demonstrating real ballet steps that your kids can immitate at home. I bet my daughter will really like this in a few years when she's a little older and appreciates the pretty ballerinas. For now we'll just continue dancing and spinning around the room.

Prima Princessa Review and Giveaway

Prima Princessa is a hip new twist on learning about ballet, featuring the Paris Opera Ballet and Students from School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center, Official Academy of New York City Ballet. Our 40 minute DVD is a cool, fun, beautiful show with a brain. Prima Princessa, an animated fairy ballerina, magically transports a group of little girls to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform select segments of Swan Lake. In between acts, the children return home to learn simple ballet steps which are playfully shown mixed into colorful montages of toys, animals, children and young dancers from the School of American Ballet.

 My girls love to dance and when I put this DVD in for them to watch they were glued. I was surprised. I wondered how a movie of girls dancing would keep them interested. To my amazement my 4yo is the one who wanted to watch it over and over again. See loved watching the little girls dance and twirl and loved to listen to the music. This DVD was very well done. I was very impressed.

Stephanie and Mary Kate have a wonderful new ballet DVD, The Nutcracker, due out around Christmas.
