Prima Princessa DVD: Contest

As a godmother to two little girls, I definitely keep an eye out for items they would LOVE. And the DVD Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake is a wonderful example. I watched it with my boys first and was amazed as they danced along with the girls on tv. But that's what the DVD wants you to do! Appreciate and enjoy dancing, ballet specifically. But although I watched it first with the boys, judging from their reaction it's going to be a huge hit with my niece/goddaughter!

You see, the DVD mixes professional ballet performed by the Paris Opera Ballet with young dancers from the School of American Ballet, along with preschool girls dancing and dressing up in fun tutus!

The idea behind the DVD is that a fairy cartoon princess, Prima Princessa, brings the Paris Opera Ballet to life before their eyes. They are performing Swan Lake and Prima Princessa explains the story to the girls, which I found super helpful! Then they would break to the School of American Ballet students showing examples of different dance moves. Then the little preschoolers would do their own versions of the dance move. Not perfect - but a lot of fun. The DVD also draws in imagery of swans, toys and more that help illustrate the story and dance.

When I popped in the 40-minute DVD, at my 2 year old's request, I never imagined that he and his brother would be twirling in circles like the dancers. So imagine how excited a little preschool girl, complete with tutu, would be to watch the performances, fairy and other little girls her age!
