Review:
Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake
As a little girl, I can remember prancing around the house like a ballerina or pretending to ice skate on the frozen puddle in front of my house. My best friend and I always wanted to be ballerinas, but never had the discipline. Neither of us ever lost of our love of ballet, so when I was given the opportunity to review the “Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake” DVD, I was thrilled. Once it arrived in the mail, I called up my friend and we curled up on the couch to watch it together and tried out some of the moves for ourselves.
“Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake” was produced by two stay-at-home moms, Stephanie Troeller and Mary-Kate Mellow, who were inspired by their children’s love of dance and their desire to see higher quality, culturally enriching programming for young children. And a fine job they did when putting together this fabulous DVD. Prima Princessa, an animated fairy ballerina, transports the group of little ballerinas to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform select segments of Swan Lake. The DVD is split into four acts and between those acts, your princesses are returned home to learn simple ballet steps through a colorful montage of toys, animals, children and young dancers from the School of American Ballet.
